A downloadable game for Windows and macOS

Hello.

This is the 2022 Build of my upcoming game, Mirror Drama.

This current version of the game, to put it bluntly, is outdated, severely lacking in content, and does not represent the project going forward. The only reason this is still publically available is for archival purposes and so that those who are curious about the project's history can look back on this (probably with judgment and laughter).

If you are interested in the project, I would consider waiting for the next demo to release sometime in the Summer of 2023 (aiming for July). If not, however, enjoy this mess of a game. Just keep in mind that most things in this demo will not carry over to the final product.

Original Description:

Characters

Shunta Shiiro

A shut-in. He's the character you play as. Years ago, he discovered that he's got a condition that makes him mirror the personality of others. Because of this, he spent many years locked away in his room, afraid of confronting this truth. However, he is not a hikikomori at heart and longs for social interaction. That's when he finally decides to escape his self-made prison.

Danika Aoki

The leader of the Drama club. She's the sweetest and kindest girl in the whole school. She's a bit of a perfectionist, but that won't stop her from seeing the good in everyone and finding their strengths.

She started the Drama club out of her passion for the arts and she's super excited for her first performance.

Baki Momoko

A cheerful and energetic girl. Not only is she an ace when it comes to spirit, but she's an expert basketball player, possibly the best in the country! She may be a little dull and easily distracted, but her enthusiasm will carry any team she's on.

Since she's so good at her sport, she decided to join the Drama club so she could have something to do in the afternoons.

Kumi Murasaki

She's a bit of a rebel. Though she may seem reclusive, she's got the sharpest of tounges and even sharper piercings. She doesn't conform to society, society conforms to her.

She joined the Drama club because she felt like it. That's all.

Tsuneko Izumidori

The local perfect girl. Everything she does is done with grace and style. No one can top this A+ student, and she's very willing to point that out.

Much like Danika, she too has a passion for theatre and thus she became the vice president.

This Visual novel is really...particular, I am not even sure if I should give a review since it's a really early beta and it won't be fair to judge based on this...but I will do it anyway.

First of, the opening animation and music are 10/10, specially for a VN it really sets a tone of high quality for the experience.

The art and music of the game are nice, even if I personally don't enjoy the art style of character portraits that much; the animated "!" and movement really bring things to life.

The only thing I personally didn't enjoy that much, and I'd like to make emphasis on personally, was the general "edgy", depression plot of the story, is something really serious and hard to handle, and it may be because the game it's on early development but, feels very weird, specially when it tries to get meta..

It also feels like something I have seen a few times before, which is not something bad but, it definitely skews my view on this when I have seen it executed better AND worse before.

I think I didn't properly expressed myself in the video review because of my lack of time, but I think although my reasons for not liking this game are mostly due to personal taste, I feel there is truly a few things plot and character wise that can be improved.

I noticed a few winks here and there in the game and in the introduction video that signal to a much more deeper interesting lore, and I am sure the game is going to turn great and in time even change my opinion, please don't feel discouraged, that's not my intention at all with this review.

This game has really high production quality and I can see some serious talent behind it, Keep the good work!

Thank you for the constructive criticism! You do make some good points regarding the general edginess of it, so I suppose I'll have to work on that. (also sorry it took me a while to respond, I wanted to watch your video first but couldn't find the time until now)
